CN-machine / Concept film
A closer look
at the first bench.
Text description
The film, in words.
The film uses music and on-screen text, with no spoken narration. English description captions are available in the player.
A shared working space.
The camera introduces the bench as an assembly within an enclosure, with the source, aperture fixture and detector arranged for a future experiment.
Start with the source.
The light field arriving at the opening needs characterization, with drift monitored throughout each measurement.
Fixed test openings.
Square and rectangular recessed apertures provide interchangeable geometry. Their shape stays fixed during each run.
A controlled exchange.
Each cassette locates against fixed contacts. Clamp, measure, remove and reseat it to examine repeatability.
Guided detector movement.
A carriage repositions the detector. The design includes supports and a cable path so the movement can be reviewed as an assembly.
Reference, monitor and record.
The same measuring head is proposed for both openings, with reference and background checks recorded alongside scans.
Access and assembly.
Views of the enclosure and components show the proposed relationships, access and mounting. Cable entry, alignment, cooling and service access remain reachable.
Qualify before comparing.
Dark signal, stability, coverage and remounting checks inform an uncertainty budget before the result is judged.
Keep the run traceable.
Recording and replay are prototyped before hardware arrives, with synthetic sessions kept separate from measurements. The film closes on the sequence: build, measure and improve.
